Organizing USB Drive??

Hello All,
First time poster - be gentle. I apologize in advance if this subject has been beaten to death already, but I haven't been lucky enough to find anything related to my issue.
Having said that - I figured out to format a USB drive to work in my 2012 Ford F-250 Microsoft sync, but the music comes out all jumbled. Hitting seek through everything is kind of a pain. Is it possible to format the USB drive so the radio recognizes a folder layout or plays from certain lists?
Also - anyone notice that every once and a while the USB will freeze? For example, the play clock will continue counting up as if the song is playing but no sound is coming out?

Thanks,
-nick

You can open Media Player (the crappy Windows one), then drag and drop files from the USB into the playlist. Save that list as a .wpl playlist file on the USB. On my 2014 Sync one of the USB options is "Playlists", and the name of any playlist files on the stick will be listed out.

Another thing to do is once song files on the stick, highlight groups of songs that should be grouped together and right click->Properties ->Detail tabs, then change either the Album or Artist fields to what you want to see on the menu under that title. All of my Metallica albums had different artist name fields so they would show up under separate headings in Sync for both album and artist, weird but easy to fix so now I can find separate albums or all songs by that artist. There's also a Genre field you can clean up, mine used to have 17 different variations of Rock and Country, now there's just those two.

You might have to clean up the Title field if it's a mess, it's different from the file name sometimes. The file might be named "Metallica - Holier Than Thou", but song title is "_metallica_black_not sandman.1258751221". That's not a super helpful title when scrolling through sync.

Thanks for the input! I appreciate it! I'm definitely going to take a look into adjusting the genres part. I'm usually pretty good about the artist and song titles (OCD a tad). But what I've noticed with the USB setup, asking sync to play one artist (in this case a comedian), the tracks themselves in the album come out in different orders. Would I need to know the name of the album instead of just the artist in order for sync to locate and play?

I think it will play in album order if you use album title and have shuffle turned off.
