I read a post before regarding this topic, and I wanted to re-open it, and ask a few questions for those who know how this program works, or those who have used it before.
I bought an '03 F-150 XLT in August. I bought it in my name, but I use it daily... as I am a contractor. No business name or anything, just an independent contractor.
I've never had the need to get a business license, because I usually get subbed out by other contractors, anyways -- point is, I don't have a business license BUT I could get one easily if need be.
Here's the question.
For my truck, I purchased:
ARE DCU Commercial Cap - $1400
Adrian Steel Griplock Rack - $500
Adrian Steel Trade Interior (bins, shelves, etc) - $600
So right there, that's $2500.
As I understand it, if you spend over $1200, they'll send you a rebate for...? How much?
How does it work? Do I contact my dealer? What are the restrictions as far as a business is concerned, as in... does it have to be a fleet vehicle, do you have to buy it in a business name, etc.? Do the items I've purchased comply with this agreement?
Did you have to purchase the truck initially with this intent?
Please give me as much explanation as possible, any dealers that are on here -- that'd be helpful too.
It's 6:15, and we closed our showromm over an hour ago. I'll check back in Monday on this and answer all your questions. But it will be worth it for you to get a DBA, that I'm sure of. Talk to you Monday.
I don't know about any pay back from a dealer but you
should check with your income tax guy.... you should be able to write off all the equipment that you have purchased for the truck
to perform your job. The mileage that you use the truck for your job also can be writen off and part of the operating cost. Check
with a good income tax man. You have to spread it over a 5 year period.
werestuck, good points. I do write off my mileage and all tools, and operating costs for my business ventures. Ford has a special program, and it's designed for new truck buyers in order to influence them to pick Ford over another company's truck.
MarkII, thanks for checking it out for me. I'll await your response on Monday.
Never thought of that, that should work too. Thanks! So anyone ever participated in this ford program? What's with the "up to 1000 dollar rebate"? I'm curious to hear what anyone's experience was with this program, are they real strict about it... etc.
Sorry for the delay- it gets a little crazy at a car dealership around the end of the month. The Commercial Connection Program will pay you at least $1,000 for equipment you need to add to your truck for business purposes. You need to spend at least $1,200, and you don't have to get the stuff from the dealer. The only things Ford won't pay for are items you could have ordered from the factory (air conditioning, for example), or electronic devices (cell phones, remote starters, etc...). If you're doing it yourself, then you present receipts for at least $1,200 to your dealer, they submit it to Ford, and you should have a check within 2 weeks. If you're buying the items through the dealer, then they can apply the $1,000 towards the deal. Almost anything qualifies: snow plow, winch, ladder racks, spraying equipment- whatever you need for your business. Hope this helps. If the dealer isn't aware of this program or they give you a hard time, then check back. We'll get 'em straightened out!

My ford dealer has no idea what's going on, and has yet to call back... does it have to be through the dealer that you purchased your vehicle? This is annoying...

Sorry- the rebate can only be obtained through the dealer you buy the truck from. Time to find another dealer.
