Alright y’all...I am wondering if anyone has a picture of what an original tailgate flange or bracket where the chains hook through on the tailgate (maybe with some dimensions) looks like.
A previous owner has chopped off and welded his own brackets on along with welding the chains on and I am trying to restore the ol sarge here... that’s what I call her.
So basically, I wanna fabricate new brackets and reweld them to the original tailgate so my new chains will work properly. But I have no idea what they look like and I can’t find a good enough picture to give it a go.
That’s at least a step in the right direction...now are those original or fabricated? Is it possible I could get you to take a couple pictures looking straight down on it without the chains looped through and a tape measure or scale layed across so I can get an idea of dimensions?
If not...it’s ok...you’ve at least given me something to work with and I can figure out the rest through trial and error if I have to....again....thank you very much!
All original. I have the tailgate receivers if needed.
Let me know if you need additional info. I also have chains. one note if you are going to weld on the tailgate receivers, i would make sure the chains work for the location. For some reason, it took me 3 parts trucks from the same years, to find some that worked on my original tailgate.
I was able to make a drawing based on your pictures that should work very well! Thank you so much! After I make them and get them welded on to the Ol Sarge I’ll try and take some pics and post them here for you to see!
Thanks again!
Here are are some pics of Ol Sarge... Freshly redone bed!
