How much wrap do you have on the alternator pulley?
If you have good wrap & a 3 bolt side mount, you can add equal amounts of washers between the alt & bracket gradually & lessen/eliminate some of the squeal.
The squeal is slippage caused by magnetic drag induced on the alternator as it comes up to speed to match demands of the system.
The drag is always there when it make voltage to some degree, so it's always a crap shoot whether you get rid of it or not or if you can live with just some.
It'll read 10.2 volts. Now I can pull the alternator plug and the screech goes away. Or I can use my battery charger and while the engine is running, move the selector switch up two clicks from 2 amps/trickle charge to 40 amps and the belt screeching stops and the voltmeter will read 14.6 volts!!
Well first, fully charge the battery there is no reason that it should be showing less than 12vdc even without the alternator.
Second get an amp clamp to see what its trying to push into the battery amp wise. Because the squeal going away when you put a charger on it tells me you have an electrical problem not a belt problem.
