ok guys, i know someone out there has to have an answer for this, i finally did the conversion of my 86 f150 from eec-iv to a 1980 carb and durasparkII, the only problem i have is that it fires on crank only, because i cant get the right ballast resistor, i have a diagram that shows one inline in the harness but noone around me that ive talked to can find me one(southeaster michigan) the resistors that i get at the local parts counter are either too high of resistance and dont let any voltage thru, or their too low of resistance and burn out after 5 minutes or so of current...HELP
How hard was that swap to do? Just curious, I'm planning on doing the same swap on my 85 f150. Any advice you can get me? Did you get your parts from a salvage yard or did you just buy new? and what about ignition coils, will my eec-iv coil still work or does it need swapped also? thanks
the swap was very easy to do, just rember to index the distributor to #1 cyl, tdc of compression stroke, so the new distributor just drops in, so you wont hafta mess with the timing forever, and short of getting the resistor, wich i still am trying to locate, itll go easy, good luck

I have the same problem with another motor and had to match the ballist resistor
I got the actual resistance/voltage spec of the resistor and gave it to the part counter. He said that Chrysler used tons of these type of resistors on their older ignitions and found the one for me .
So if you have the resisitor specs see if one of you local supply shops can look it up under a Dodge/Chusler parts 1970 - 1982 era
Hope this helps
