He ended up taking the alternator off and is having it tested but is going to go ahead and replace it. His boss said it’s not been changed in a very long time. He said there was oil and smoke coming from the side of the motor from a plug I’m guessing a egr valve from what I can locate on the internet.. once the new alternator and freshly charged batteries are on.. if that’s not the problem then that’s his next spot to check. Thanks everyone for all the help! Update soon!

If you are losing all electrical power the first thing to do is start with the battery connections. Anything with the cables and battery terminals that are not bright "silver" looking means that there is potential for bad connections. They may look clean but that dark gray color is the beginnig of some "corrosion".

I have a California 7.3 that has the glow plug module instead of a relay, I dont see that "plug" in mine. Also not sure if they have a wrench light. I may be wrong but is he
sure it is a 7.3? Earlier it was stated that it could be the EGR, 7.3 do not have those either. Could this really be a 6.0?

IF it is a 6.0 be warned, if it's the EGR and you are blowing oil and smoke out the trail pipe it could also have head damage, could spend 5-12 thousand depending on extent of damages and where you have it fixed. The guys on the 6.0 section can steer you right if that's the engine you have
