thinking of purchasing a 95 f150 5.0 5 speed. Is it hard to change the power window switches? one of them will not work. also, the guage cluster cover (the clear plastic window thingy) is all scratched up. is this hard to fix? also, is this a MAF or speed-density FI? Thanks in advance
It's probably Speed Density, unless it is a California model. I have a 1995 F150 5.0 with a 5 speed and it is speed density. Your window switch shouldn't be hard to replace, if that's what is actually the problem. It should only be one screw and the whole thing comes out, then I think it just unplugs from the wiring harness. If you get a new one from Ford it probably comes as the whole switch unit (windows and door lock).
No doubt it is speed density. I also have a 95 302, 5 speed, and it is speed density as well.
MAF is only worth it (in our case anyway) if you are going to do performance mods. It is a must in that case. There is a company in the magazine Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords that has a kit for this, and it is the cheapest I have seen. (can't remember the name or the price, but they have all FoMoCo parts)
as for the dash face, you can find tons of archived posts about swapping the cluster. these are the steps you will have to take to get the face out of there. some u-pull-it parts places will probably have a replacement you could snag pretty cheap. (esp. if you just want the plastic cover) not a hard job to do, and worth it for all the time we spend staring at those gauges.
As for the switch. Take it off and use a test light to test the wires. Press different buttons and see if the light lights up. If not, you may have a short somewhere.
