Special Order F250/350 Payload Capability?
#16
I was really confused by this when I was researching my build too. When building, don't select a payload option (either the 10000# or 11,400#). Based on your options, 4x4, tires, camper package, ect., a maximum GVWR will be determined, Likely 11,300# for the options you have selected. The 11,400# payload is a diesel only option I think, which is why the max payload for that GVWR in the ford payload selector is actually less than the 11,300# GVWR. I think your best best is to take your options to the dealer, have them build it for you in their system and verify the GVWR on the build sheet. Based on that GVWR and the maximum payload selector, subtracting a couple hundred pounds for options should put you in the ballpark.

I've had my Hallmark guanella for about a year-and-a-half. I typically have either bicycles or motorcycle mounted off the rear receiver or I tow a small 4 rail trailer. I had a 2011 F-350XL 6.2 3.73 CCLB 17" tires. Last January I ordered a new 2018, basically the same equipment except I went 4.30 rear end. I'm super pleased. I don't install balloon tires and big wheels, and I really like the 6r140 tranny that comes with the F-350 gasser. The advantage of ordering a 17-in wheel equipped f350 is you get a pretty soft spring pack in the rear, but with really heavy overload Springs. Stock my truck worked perfectly with the exception that base OEM shocks on the rear did not have enough damping when driving loaded, so I slapped a set of Fox 2.0 on the rear. I am super pleased w

Ahah! You may have solved the mystery ... I will be dropping in on the dealer at the end of this week and will let you know what I find out (hopefully with the options selected I will get a GVWR of 11,300 .... and have a good amount of margin in my pocket!

It looks like the 10K mystery may be solved. For the F350, the 10K GVWR is an optional no-cost paper downgrade (Option Code 68 D).
When your dealer works up a draft work sheet for you, it should list the configuration GVWR. Based on the configuration you've described (F350 SCSB 4x4 6.2 XLT 18" wheels with optional AT tires and Camper Package), I expect the GCWR to be 11,300 lbs. (ref 2019 Super Duty Specs Guide, page 24).
Yes, the max F250 GVWR available is 10K lbs., no matter how it's configured.
It looks like you were able to buy the F350 4X4 SCSB 6.2 with a 11,400 lb GVWR (or at least higher than 10,000 lbs)? The "configurator" on the Ford website does not allow me to increase the F350 to the 11,400 lb GVWR without adding the 6.7 Diesel .... which I don't want to do. How did you do this? How much extra cost was it to increase the GVWR to 11,400 with the 6.2 Gasoline engine?

HTH, and best of luck!

A big thanks to everyone who posted in response to my questions. If I ever have the pleasure of meeting up with any of you (I will post pictures when everything is delivered), please let me buy the first round(s)!!
The only issue outstanding is for me to understand the issues round the rear axle ratio so I can make an informed decision. Otherwise:
F350, SCSB, 4X4, 6.2, XLT Trim, 18" AT wheels/tires, Camper Package, Skid Plates, Extra Extra HD Alternator, Center Console, Value Package, Sync 3.
Sticker price sitting at $49,910 (Not including $500 rebate) .... let's see what I can do in negotiations ...
Thanks again,
Preston

Happy to help. I spent alot of time lurking on this forum before I ordered. Between the special ordered camper and truck you are going to have a great setup come spring!
The most important question now is.... what color are you going to choose? These special ordered 6.2 gassers sure like to wear blue jeans.

Simply put, the 4.30's will allow your truck to accelerate better with a load on it. You will sacrifice some MPG
unloaded but it will be better loaded since it will stay in 6th or 5th longer than it will with the 3.73's. If you are
going to have the weight of the camper plus pull a trailer, I would also go with the 4.30's.... then again, I bought
my truck to pull a trailer and plow snow, not to pass gas stations.
What he said (even though mine wasn't special ordered....)
