New style Con Rod

Was reading about a new style of con rod and was told that only 2017 job 2 builds and later had the new rods.
Well, mine is a job 1 and it has the new style rods. Also, at the local dealer, the diesel tech said all the 2017
and later engines have the new rod. This rod is used from July 17 2016 and on.

Good info. I too saw it posted that it was a Job 2 thing but when I looked at the VIN range, my Job 1 was in the range for the new style.

A friend had it but that was last spring and I don't have it anymore. I texted him a link to this thread and maybe he'll post if he still has it. Paging @UGA33

Have you gone in the engine and actually seen them or are you going by what your mechanic said? I see you posted a pic, was just curious if that came out of your truck or was it out of/ going into something else.

My guy scoped it when I had him put on an aftermarket lower oil pan.
He pulled a new rod out of stock so he could compare it with what he saw.
HC3Z-6200-B Rod part # for all 6.7's after July 11th, 2016

Nice. That blows up the last of the "thought" about the rods starting with trucks at HEB99000. Maybe the guy posting hit an extra "9" and it should have been HEB90000? That would explain why you have em.

So according to that last 8 digits, mine should not have them? Even the parts catalog calls for them back to July 11th. So all 2017's should have them then. When was my engine made then?
I'm confused.

I read the 99000 part wrong. It reads 90000.

If you have a VIN of HEAxxxxx to HEB89999, it will have the smaller rods. HEB90000+ will have the bigger rods.

So just to be clear, my vin calls for the larger rod?

I trust my guy to know what he's looking at, but the numbers thing was a mystery.
Thanks for your time UGA33!

Only a truck forum can an entire thread about rod size exist and be completly viewable at work.
