I actually have a 1997 F-350, but there doesn't seem to be a forum area between 1996 and 1999, so I'm posting here. Same body style, at least.
I need to replace my right rear (that is, passenger side, back row) power window regulator on my crew cab truck. All I've been able to find are window regulators which say "front right" or "front left." Can I use those for the back windows, or are the parts different?
Mm... that area's description seems to indicate it is for the F-150 and F-250 light duty trucks. It probably makes no difference for the window regulators, but there still doesn't seem to be a place for the F-250 HD and F-350 trucks from 97-98.
My bad then. Figured it would be closer to what you needed. I too missed the header that it included the 97 f-350 at top of the page. Sorry for any confusion.
I found a trick to fix widow regulators
mine is a 1991 f 150 but it works for all of them
Does the window shutter up and down for a while before it quits?
Does it still make a sound when you hit the window switch?
he is the problem and you do not have to replace the whole regulator.
once the regulator is out it take about 5 minutes to do.
Replace these 3 Teflon gear plugs I have bought them on amazon for about $12.00 with the new gear.I have also found just the plugs for $4 made by Doorman
I have also used 11mm steel ball bearings
It doesn't work and the other windows do. Granted, I haven't done an exhaustive diagnosis (yet). I wanted to line up a source for a regulator in case that turns out to be the problem (instead of the switch or the motor). It's good to know that I can't use ones listed for the front doors; however, the bad news is I haven't yet found any source for regulators specifically for the rear.
Nope, mine makes no sound at all. No current drain when you push either the button on that particular door or at the driver's door.
Most likely it's an electrical issue.
It's good news that I probably don't have to replace the regulator, since these don't seem to be easy to find.
More then likely it’s the wires that come out of the cab and go into the doors, they bend in a tight radius and eventually break, I had to remake both harness for my rear doors to get the locks and windows working again. Open the front doors on your truck and look at the wiring for the rear doors, mine was so bad that the wires broke out of the black covering and were sticking out broken and all green from corrosion.
