Just replaced the fuel pump (lots of junk in it)(cleaned the canister and reassembled everything), cleaned the engine mounted fuel bowl, replaced the fuel filters, then opened up the regulator. Within the regulator, I found the brass plunger's o-ring was broken, causing fuel pressure issues. I unable to determine if it's a o-ring or a flat rubber type sealing ring. Anyone have any idea about this? is it an o-ring? And, I plan on doing the Blue Spring upgrade, where do you all suggest I purchase the upgrade blue spring? The dealership want's $80 for the kit to include the housing. (Don't need the housing). I've read several posts saying the aftermarket blue springs are not all the same and may not be to Ford Spec. Prices for this upgrade is from $15 to $80. Any suggestions welcomed. Thanks
I purchased a new blue spring kit before I realized it was that o-ring that was causing my fuel pressure issues. I still had the old fitting/washer from the stock kit, which is now a spare.
I think it is angled and flat and appears to seal up under the flange on the brass fitting..
It is a specific seal, not a standard o-ring. It is shaped to fit in the plunger groove on one side and the other side to seal on the housing. I have used kits from Napa and found that both of them had the seal installed upside down so make sure it is correct before final assembly.

After many calls, learned the “seal” is proprietary to Ford. It has angles to prevent a flat seal or o-ring from sealing / seating properly! It can’t be purchased alone or on the plunger without purchasing the entire kit from Ford or a dealer.
Thank you Clay, at RiffRaff Diesel, for your info and guidance.
On a fuel side note,, I also found the in tank fuel pick-up foot was broken. That item is only available from Ford as a kit with the fuel level sender and pickup assy! ($350) So, if any of you all think that maybe you will encounter this same issue,, order one up ( for $40) and put it on the shelf. I’m paying next day air to get one,, all because I have to get this truck running for my wife, so I can head out of town on Friday for some much needed deer hunting!
