Talking Questions about Suspensions

Im planning on doing some upgrades to the pickup over the winter. Whats on my mind right now is the suspension. I already know im not going extreme, no money for a SAS (or time really) and I know the TTB has its limitations. Here's what im considering... 3-3 1/2 coils in front, 1 1/2 block to bring up the rear, 1-1 1/2 body lift, cut out fender flares with 33-35s for the rolling stock. I love the flex my stock susp. gives me (im talking twistin' like a pretzel over here!) i dont want to sacrifice stability by getting all tall (not to mention all the other issues that tag along with being jacked up) and honestly i dont have that kind of budget. Does anyone here know of a good website with coil spring info? Stuff like actual lift gained, free and compressed length, lb/in ratings, steel used, etc...Ive tried looking up specific vendors (Rancho, Pro Comp and so on) and NONE of them offer that info!!!! I like learning, I like building, I LIKE ALL THE NEDRY INFORMATION!!!!! Y'all probably think im crazy, I call it curious! Anyways, thanks for any direction that you all have to offer, i hope that some where out here in the WWW such a site exsists!

I would skip the body lift and just go with a 4” or 6” suspension lift. That will get you the room for either 33 or 35” tires. Many many years ago I put a 6” Superlift kit with new rear leaf springs (no blocks) and extended radius arms on my ‘87 FSB.

I do not know of a source for spring info but the springs will settle at different heights depending on how much weight you add. Are you going to also install or currently have a winch?

I don't currently have a winch but I am shopping around and looking at options. As far as going with a bigger lift I'm still on the fence. I really like the look of the overland and exploration type of rigs, the way they sit low on ginormas tires and that's the type of look I want, just on a "smaller" scale. Also, I'm a little limited financially as to what I can do so I figured ill start small and see if I like the results, if not I'll work on it from there.

Either way you are going to need drop brackets for the TTB to get the alignment back in specs.

I would decide on a tire size first. For what it is worth I find a 33x10.5r15 to be a great tire on these trucks for bouncing around the mountains, and they're skinny enough for good winter traction. Add a 12v air compressor so you can drop the pressures down at the start of a trail and you'll have a pretty off road capable rig. Those tires clear with about a 1.5" lift up front and no drop brackets, just caster/camber bushings. No sense going higher than needed, too much off camber travel in the Rockies for that.

I do have a Moog coil spring table, I'll attach it when I'm back on my PC.
