I thought I would post in case anyone else had problems . Rebuilding drag link and could not get the plugs in far enough to get the cotter keys in. Took them back apart, thinking maybe I had them together wrong.I didn't , but I did notice the spring seat was near the end of the spring , not allowing much compression .That's why the plug wouldn't go in. I checked the ones I took out , they were more than 1/8" shorter. I used the old ones and they went in far enough for the pins. None of the parts showed any wear and the link is tight. Now I just need a new zerk fitting as one of the new ones won't take grease. Dean

Reason: Spellcheck
The quality and fit of some repop parts is frustrating to say the least. I had two situations today, a repop pitman arm and 52 front hood emblem, where I elected to use a good reconditioned original. Keep it greased and you should be fine.
When I rebuilt mine on a 54 I had the opposite problem. The new ones were too short. It sounds like the cups for the 54 are thicker than the cups on a 56.
