I did not set up my Home Link because these trucks are way too easy to break into. No sense giving perps access to my garage door, too. OTOH, if you always park inside your garage, then no problem. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...nto-today.html
I've tried numerous times to get the HomeLink setup in my truck and it won't work. So until then I have to use the keypad on the door since I wouldn't leave a garage door remote in the truck. That would make it too easy to get into the house.
Only one I've ever had issues programming. Programmed my wife's suv two months prior to getting my truck in 30 seconds.
Hopefully someone can share some tips on steps possibly left out of the setup instructions I'm overlooking or whatever.
My apologies didn't mean to hijack your thread. Once I get mine working I'll be happy to report any range issues. Lol

likewise. If someone can share tips for programming a genie I’d be tickled to report on range once connected. So silly I have a 76k truck and need my clunky garage door remote to open it when I have one built in.

I was having to do the same thing. I found that the LED bulb in my garage door opener was interfering with my homelink. So I started turning the light off and then stepping over the sensor. Yesterday I purchased a LED bulb made by Genie especially for garage door openers and it works like a champ now.

i would have never thought of that. At 10$ for a pack of two it’s worth a try. Thank you and I will let you know if it works.
You don't even have to buy them yet. Just take the bulb out and see if homelink works. If it does you know it's the bulb interfering. $10 for a 2 pack is a great deal, everywhere I found it was $10 for one.

maybe it’s a genie thing? That’s what we have? Agreed it’s silly.
Mine is a LiftMaster but I do have led bulbs in. I wonder if they’re interfering with the range. The remote that came with it seems to be fine with them in.
I have (two) Craftsman openers. LED bulbs made opener range "spotty". Changed back to "severe service" incandesent bulbs to restore range. One opener responds at around 200' and the other (and older) at about 50'. One opener is the rolling code type, the other uses DIP switches. Truck is always garaged.
The range on my 2019 is terrible. It is about half the range or worse of my wife’s Escalade. On the Genie’s you have to get out and hit the learn button on the garage door opener itself. Follow the genie directions online not the Ford directions. The Ford directions worked fine for my driveway gate.
I found the Homelink was hard to program and the range is horrible. I can open the garage door from down the block with my Explorer but have to be pulled right up to the door with the truck. Worst range of any of the vehicles I've owned with the Homelink system.
I am happy to report back that after removing the LED bulbs (Home Depot specials) from my genie garage door opener, I hit the learn button and pushed and held my homelink button for 5 seconds two times and it now works!! I would have never put that together. Thank you for the insight. I’ll report back to the range portion of this now that it works.
