auto hub ???

I having a problem with the auto hubs on my 88 BII.YEA,YEA I know there junk , but I dont have the $$$ to make the swap rite now.So here is the problem ,with the t case in 2 wheel drive on the hwy Ill pull up to a stop and I here a bang /clunk from the drivers side front,them when I go to leave there is a bang again,the truck feels like its in 4x4 for a few seconds then every thing feels normal till I stop again .What is going on with my BII ? The 4 wheel drive works fine both hubs lock in and i have no noise in 4 wheel drive,and when i disengage the 4x4 I here the hubs click to unlock till I get to the next stop,then here it goes again.Im lost,baffled,befondeled,and confused !!
Oh yea this is my daly driver need to get it fixed as soon as I can.

Did you try to back up for about 10-15 feet. That should disengage the hubs. And the manuals aren't that expensive. I paid 90 for a set of Warn manuals.

Yes I backed up about 10 ft. .I heard the hubs click to unlock.I made sure that it was disengage by turning hard left NO bumping in the steering so I perty sure it was disengaged.
I just back it into the shop,I guess Ill srart the taire down and I will let y'all know what I find.
Im still open for any and all help!!!
