I was under the impression that the MAP registered vacuum pressure within the intake and fed the information to the PCM via a preset voltage parameter. Perhaps I was wrong...

Under the weather this morning and am on medication, but I am wrong all the time, just not normally in a public setting such as this one.

It happens... I will just go back to watching YouTube fail/win videos now...

The MAP never sees vacuum in a typical diesel, only gassers do. Plumbing vacuum to the MAP would keep the computer from fueling.

Walley nailed it, fool the MAP into thinking there's more boost present so the computer adds more fuel. When you initially hit the pedal the boost takes a couple seconds to build up, the exhaust pressure happens right away. And when you add fuel you add exhaust pressure which brings the boost on quicker.

Just took some more drugs in an effort to be better before we head out on our camping tomorrow. My apologies again for thinking exactly the opposite of what is happening was happening.

88 E-350, did you come up with this on your own or did you see it being done somewhere else on another platform?

Interesting idea, that is for sure.

That's nothing to be sorry about, it happens. Get well soon and enjoy the trip.

Came up with the idea right after I got torque pro and saw how quickly the EBP rises. Knowing that the computer waits to see boost before cranking up the fuel made it a no-brainer. I really thought I'd see a lot more "yea, I did that years ago, it's old news" and almost didn't post about it, glad I did.

Keep an eye on your MPG's. I know for a fact my truck gained MPG when I installed a new EBPS when I recognized the old one was clogged and bad.

I don't keep track of MPG so unless something big happens I won't know about it. I only checked it once on a road trip playing with a tuner.

I have cold sticking injectors and this mod has helped greatly. When one is stuck the acceleration is really bad, at WOT it takes almost a block to get up to 2kish RPM where it'll suddenly unstick and go. Pretty sure it's when the computer commands the longer injection that it finally pulls the injector free. When two are stuck I could be outrun by a 90 year old using a walker. After the mod: with one stuck I can now accelerate about as well as stock with none stuck and the one that is stuck will unstick much more quickly. The less sticky one will now free up as soon as I press the pedal in Drive, even a god rev in P will do it.

So why do some ( my old Bullydog ) tunes manipulate the actual reading MAP reading by subtracting 2 psi ?

All i can say is WOW! Best i can describe it is a controlled 10k mod. The truck just keeps pulling smoothly the more the go pedal is depressed...thumb up 88, its stat'n until something rears its face..haha

ebps removed

Fitting installed

hose routed to MAP

plugged map feed fitting

No SES/CEL

This "mod" reminds me of the human centipede...

What was/is the 10K mod? That may have been before my time.

using a 10k resistor on the ICP to trick the computer into more oil pressure from the IPR

So... I'll show my ignorance and mental laziness here... is this mod equally applicable if I've already done the EBPV delete? [I'm at work after being out for almost two weeks, and just trying to catch back up seems to have overwhelmed my thinking skills for the day!]

Has nothing to do with the ebpv Pete. The jic fittings' installed where the ebp sensor was. Cap the sensor and plumb fitting to map sensor. Then cap off fitting at spider that feeds the map
