Leather Seats

There was a thread on here about the quality of the leather seats in the Lariat package. Saw several pictures that showed that the leather had become quite loose. It seemed very unacceptable to me especially when most of these trucks were quite new. I believe Ford had changed their leather supplier? Has this issue been addressed and corrected for the 2018 & 19's??

I have a 2018 lariat ultimate. No problems yet, but I’ve only had the truck since March. Seems as good of quality as any other vehicle I’ve had. Better than some.

I'm very disappointed in the lariat leather seats. They are extremely uncomfortable I've found compared to the cloth seats I had in my 2015 xlt. I cant wait till its trade in time and place my butt in a new seat whether that's a downgraded cloth seat or I abandon ship and find a different brand with better seats.

If they were stitched like the limited seats then they would probably hold up much better.....too large of a stitched area on the seating surface is prone to wrinkling....Mine already looks like sh-t after only a few short months ....and 4kmiles.

Leather source for Ford is limited to just 2-3 suppliers, so leather sources are not different, though grades may have changed....For 2017 and on SD, Ford switched seat complete suppliers from Johnson Controls to Faurecia. Nearly identical seats in the F150 but JCI still builds those seats.

Leather varies from cow to cow unfortunately. Ford does not buy the best unfortunately either. Bottom line here folks is the lighter you are the better the seats will hold up. It is not just the leather but the rest of the seat and what provides support to the leather. Fat boys are harder on seats and it will sag no different than your couch lol..

So far my king ranch seats are good, no signs of wear. I weigh 250 lbs as well.

Yeah, my lariat leather was loose from day one. definitely a disappointment. If I had one b!tch about the fit and finish, that'd be it. $75k and the seats are sub standard.

My seats are still really good still. 40,000 Km, or about 26,000 miles. I’m 6’ and 210 lb. no issues. My only complaint is the perforations, they hold stuff and it’s a pain to clean them sometimes. Especially kids in the back seat. Other than that I thInk I got a good batch of leather.

My Lariat seats look great. No pulling or stretching or discoloration of the black leather in 38,000 miles. I’m 6’1”, 220lbs.
