Two days ago ran into an issue on my 01’ V10 Ex. Went to leave a store and the Ex wouldn't start. Cranks strong but wouldn't run. A couple times it would start but die immediately. Finally got it running once we swapped the fuel pump relay, but I have since gone back to the old one as a test and it works. I tried to bypass the IAC by pressing the gas pedal but that didn't help. It has not died while driving and seems to have normal power. I also went on a long drive (5 hrs) last Friday with no issues.
I have changed the IAC, replaced the battery and fuel pump relay. I have been monitoring the fuel pressure with a gauge and it seems to prime fine with good pressure (35) when starting and running. It did not do it yesterday or this morning.
I am leaning towards a fuel pump but the pressure is telling me its good. Any thoughts?
You'll need to get a fuel pressure reading when in failure mode in order to confirm or exclude the fuel pressure as an issue. Can't do anything other than guess without a firm bit of data.
Include the YEAR of your Exc, there are differences.
Also, we tried to check fuel pressure when it was in failure mode but the gauge wasn’t sealing properly. If it would have been working we could have our answer. Was only able to check properly with a different gauge.
