What's the diffrence?
Hi all,
we disussed in our recent english lesson this problem:
What is the diffrence between a "engine" and a "Motor"
For me there is no diffrence or am I wrong?
and....what does "pivot" mean

Pivot means to bend, or turn, to move around, like pivot arm. Maybe someone else can cite better examples....

Alot of it depends on which part of the country you come from and then it depends on which part that part you're from. But we (my neighbors and I) all know what each other mean.
What size motor you got in your truck?
What size motor you got on that water pump.
Well, the motor went bad on my lawn mower.
ETC..etc...etc.
But, since I talk to people from all over the globe here at FTE I try to say engine when talking about motors
To me a pivot is point at which something turns or rotates.
What's going on? Got a bet going?

Another example of pivot would be a compass - the type that you draw circles with. You stick the sharp point of the compass into the paper and pivot the pencil around in a circle.
