Got squeezed this morning just as I was passing a truck with extended mirrors. Yep tapped my mirror and knocked it in some. No visible damage and it extends and retracts (it was not extended at the time) and closes but the closing time is off. It takes longer to get there.
Was wondering if I can adjust this so it will close at the same time as the other mirror without major hassle.
If not guess it will stay as it is til it actually breaks....
Thanks
I guarantee Ford will not cover this under warranty when it finally does break. I'd make an insurance claim. My 2017 dually had the folding motor on one side fail...the mirror is replaced as a unit. The cost was something like $1500 for one mirror (power fold / telescope, BLIS, spot lights, heat, etc). Even for just a motor failure, the dealer had to photograph the mirror to "prove" there was no "impact damage."
This is the exact scenario that scares me when I pass those dodge trucks with those ridiculously long mirrors that don’t extend or retract on a narrow road. Those trucks look pretty silly, but to each his own. I just don’t want them hitting me since their mirrors come into my lane!

If the driver is staying in his lane, it won't be a problem. The max legal trailer width is 102"; the mirrors are not that wide when out.
I open and close mine twice a day (in and out of the garage). I can honestly say that I've never even thought about looking to see if one closes a fraction slower than the other. Bottom line, they open and they close. That's all that matters to me.
I believe there is something in the manual about if you manually fold a power folding mirror - how to "reset" it so that it works correctly.. i'd give that a try..
Turning in a hit on the mirror will result in a collision claim, and replacing the mirror will not guarantee the replacement will retract/extend at the same time as the other. I would keep it as is...
I have never paid attention prior to reading this thread. Yesterday I did and my passenger mirror is slower opening than my driver mirror. It's not off much but it's off. As stated above as long as they open and close on command I'm not concerned. Just glad they do as my previous pickup had manual tow mirrors. Can't tell you how many times one or the other were bumped hard by someone walking between vehicles not paying attention.
