Expedition Seats

Has anyone successfully put Expedition/navigator seats in an X? I am not taking about the older seats out of an 99-02. I am looking for 2005+ seats that have been installed into an X. Mainly looking for someone that has done the back 2 bench seats.

I have searched and search for this topic and have read a couple where people have been able to do t but nothing on how or what it took. I would imagine you’d need to fabricate some brackets and/or drill through and secure new bolts

Have not done the bench just the buckets however doing a bench would be not be any diffrent. yes you need to do some fabrication work to make them fit.

Iv’e done a few now, make sure you know and understand the requirements, this link covers what you need to know about 49 CFR 571.207 before building your mounts.
https://www.law.cornell.edu/cfr/text/49/571.207

For my floor anchors I copied the factory ford design because I didn’t plan on doing any destruction testing to meet this requirement :
(a) In any position to which it can be adjusted - 20 times the mass of the seat in kilograms multiplied by 9.8 applied in a forward longitudinal direction;

(b) In any position to which it can be adjusted - 20 times the mass of the seat in kilograms multiplied by 9.8 applied in a rearward longitudinal direction;

thanks for your response. Did you happen to do a write up on this install? I have the same idea in using the factory design for safety reasons. Any pictures or drawings you have would be greatly appreciated.

I think I posted some pics of the finished install but on something like that I wouldn’t post a how to.
my issue is if my design or instructions were involved in a accident or failure I don’t need the legal hassle.

I am looking for the code but not finding it right now that deals with the anchor design.

basically it specicifis the anchor has to be plated or otherwise corrosion resistant, have rounded corners and edges so it does not tear through the sheet metal, detailed how far the holes have to be from the edge of the material.

All easy enough to do, you just need to know what the specs are.

I understand. Would you be more comfortable emailing me some pics without instructions? Have you done both rows or just the middle row?

I think I found one of the pictures you have posted about this. Do you have anymore that you would be willing to send me? I understand if your not comfortable giving out directions on how do this since its safety related. Since you have done a couple of these before is there a year of seat that works better than other years? Have you been able to change out the 3rd row as well? My plan is to change out both rear rows with the expedition seats then find a bench seat out of a 2011+ to replace the 2 front seats with. I am told the front seats bolt up fine but need some wiring mods to make things work.

Thanks again for all your input.

I’ve never messed with the 3rd but they look the same to me ????

I prefer the newer model Fold and Tumble buckets out of the Navigator. They fold I 1/2 and stow forward like the original Ex seats.

that older navigators only fold forward for access to the 3rd.

I think the rear seats (3rd row) are totally different from what's in our X's. The ones in the X will fold in half and then pop out completely. The newer 2005+ seats in the Expeditions are a 60/40 split and seem to fold flat into the floor. It looks like they mount totally different.

I found some tan leather seats out of a 2008 Expedition that I am looking at buying. After looking at your picture I am not as worried about getting the 2nd row to fit just the 3rd now.
