Question Bad idea ? Having 2nd thoughts.

I just put a set of fuel 20' rims 1" offset with a set of 325/60 ko2 SRW on. However I didn't take into account how far out they sit - yikes. How would you ever keep a truck clean.

Question - am I in for a lifetime of stone chips and scratches etc. leaving it like this - as I see many do. Or should I immediatley be investing in a set of pocket flares ? Currently I'm only driving it on dry days for fear of damaging the fenders and side panels. The styling does have a bit of a flare around the wheel openings which should help - I hope. Other problem is I will need a leveling kit, however the tires do fit only a slight rub on the mud guards.

I get it in the warmer states its probably not much to worry about. Up here in the great North with gravel roads and winter sand/salt I'm thinking this was a bad idea even though I will take them off for the winter.

Looking for some advice / experiences. Recommendations on flares ? Bushwhackers ?

1' offset? Or do you mean 1" offset?

Yes, you should absolutely get some flares or mud flaps. Not only to protect your truck, but to protect the windshields of any poor *******s driving behind you.

Pics or it didn't happen. Also, I hope you like changing wheel bearings. By increasing the leverage to the axle by changing the offset, you are unknowingly submitting the wheel bearings to much more stress as well as changing many other suspension dynamics. They make it a certain way for a reason. Here's a nifty video that explains the forces at work when you change the offest of the wheel or use a spacer:

Not really the responses I was looking for. I put 20k on the truck a year half of that I will run the factory tires / rims so I'm not to concerned. It's just a 1" offset. (edited my previous post)

The dealerships put these tires and rim combinations on the lot as a package with warranty more so on F150s. Didn't really think it was a big deal.

Mud Flaps or Flares should certainly help the gravel and dirt situation in my opinion.

I was hoping someone would chime in that runs this tire / rim combination and see what they have experienced. Years / Miles etc.

Regardless I'm ordering up a set of rough country flares.
