flaps or flares?...

I just traded up to a 15 f350 and its got some options buts its missing one thing, something to stop the mud from flinging all over. I ran flaps on my last truck but they didnt weather good as they got beaten up from snow plowin. I kinda like the fender flares but not sure if they will stop the mud from getting up the sides and covering the step bars. What are you guys running and have had success with? I plan on keep her stock height and stock rims. Thanks Joe

The flares will keep the debris off the side of your truck. If you are running stock wheels I would skip them. Trucks look silly with fender flares when the wheels are tucked inside the fender IMO. They will do nothing to keep stuff off your step bars anyway. Get some quality flaps. I think guys hear recommend Duraflaps. Some will chime in shortly. Congrats on the new ride!

Flaps, if you are keeping it stock. They will do a better job of keeping mud and debris off the steps and truck body. If you were to go with larger, wider tires then flares would be the way to go with a flap.

I have the weather tech hard splashgard. I do not go off road nor do we have a lot of snow, so no worries for me about bending them. They do a great job and were easy to install.

I bought some mudflaps off Amazon. Check the hardware though. This kit came with metal clips and sheet metal type screws. They kept loosening so I replaced them all with allen head screws and nylon insert nuts.

Duraflaps! Not cheap, but the best mudflap i have had. They look great and work well with my oversize tires.

On my 06 I had the ford hard plastic and they worked well except for when I back up snow plowing there is no give to them and they come loose and ended up chaffing the metal. This truck definitely sits higher so they may work better now

I was going to go with duraflap but everyone said they were hard plastic and I didn't want to bend or snap them.

I've been running Dura Flaps for 4 years. I love them. I got the rears with the stainless steel salmon on them. I get a lot of positive comments on the flaps.

Why not do both? That's what I did.

I pieced together the parts for the factory fender flares that you get with the KR or 2-tone trucks. My plan was to paint them to match, but when I did a test fit the wifey came out and loved the black on white look. So I left them unpainted. Added the Ford heavy duty splash guards with the chrome inserts, and got the best of both worlds. Now I have something to protect the paint around the body and fender lips, and the flaps to keep the rest of it off the steps and doors. Works really well. The factory flares don't stick out nearly as far as some of the aftermarket ones, so they don't look weird with the factory wheels.
