mass air conversion
hi guy's, This is my first time using this forum. It seems to be a great place to find out stuff about ford trucks. I have a problem and i hope there is someone out there that can HELP ME. I just purchased a 1996 F250 WITH A 351W. I would like to know if there is a mass air conversion kit that i can install. As of right know, I have the speed density system which i was told that i can't upgrade my injectors to 24lbs as the engine won't perform properly. In the future i would like to upgrade the engine to a strocker engine. If there is anybody out there that might know, please help me!
With a stroker and good heads, those 24lbs/hr will be too small anyway. I'd go for around 36lbs/hr ones for a 392/408. You do not want your injector duty cycles over 80% typically
Hit Man i have a '94 F-150 5.0 automatic. since it has a 4r70w tranny i'm assuming its a late '94 model. Is my truck mass air or speed density ?
If you have a big metal thing attached to it and then goes to the throttle bodies then you are MAF. Like a big "Y".
If you have two seperate tubes from air box to the throttle bodies you are Speed Density.
Also...I think the factory MAF trucks with the 302 are a 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8 firing order like the 351W and HO 302.
a big Y huh? HOT DAWG
looks like my truck is mass air so adding power plans are on
now all i gotta do if figure out how to deal with my electronic tranny a 4R70w
I have every bolt-on currently on my truck.A 4R70W is an excellent trans...basically all the shortcomings of the AOD are in this: lower gears, bigger OD drum+band, stronger internals, bigged 3rd drum. Just stick a TransGo shift kit in there and it will shift great.
Also, since it is electronic you can get a custom burned chip that will let you set your shift points to whatever you want. Stupid AOD can only get to 5500rpms without manually holding gears. I need to get a TransGo governor kit that goes to 5500rpms and play with it to see how to lighten the weight to get the shifts up.
