i would like to start the transmission swap. I have marked the flanges of both drive shafts. Soaked driveshafts, tc and trans mounting bolts. By removing the crossmember, and lowering the the trans on a trans jack will it drop enough to get access to the top bolts? I can’t tell with that big cradle up front. I don’t want to mess with motor mounts. I have the sensors and harness disconnected. What about the trans dip stick tube?
I installed an Atlas 4spd in the Jeep so X should be easier as it’s a stock trans swap
Any tips tricks, videos etc would be most appreciated.
The trans dipstick tube slides into the bottom piece.
on the new trans be sure the press in lower half is tight, if not order a new one. ( builders often forget this and then they leak ) it’s a project to install that lower part in the vehicle because it is a press fit.
I got to the top bolts on mine by using enough extensions to get to them from the very back of the transmission. That way I could not only see, but sit up almost completely. Also, yes a transmission jack is worth having to use even once, even if you have to buy the "nice" one from horrible freight.
All bolts removed. Only thing left is the dipstick tube. New trans has the short pressed in piece already in place. Any tips for separating the tube on the old trans?

Borrowed my buddys motorcycle jack. Worked like a charm on the TC, should be just as effective for the transmission.
