C6's are tough sumbitches. I bought a 68 Merc Monterey a few years ago that had 57K on the odometer. That C6 was sticking between gears, added a bottle of Lucas Trans treatment and after a lap around the block it was shifting like new. If you add too much fluid it can come out the vent tube.
Wow, you got lucky, my transmission is leaking from the shifter, gonna require dropping the valve body, at it's age a rebuild is due, gonna keep topping it off, wondering if I should replace my modulator valve, not sure if it's pulling in fluid or not. My friend has a C6 in his 95, has over 350,000 on it, leaks from the front seal, but still going strong, yet to be rebuilt.
The transmission continued to leak at random. I had the van back at the shop and they replaced the pan seal and called it good. I asked them to check the filler tube and they said it was fine.
Everytime I used the van I had to add fluid. Finally my buddy Clint popped off the doghouse and we both saw the problem right away.
The leak turned out to be a loose filler tube with a broken o-ring.
We replaced the o-ring and remounted the filler tube using clamps. I suspect the filler tube should be welded back on but it's been over six months now and the leak is gone.
