my check engine light is on with a P0171 code (engine running lean, bank 1). I just cleaned my MAF, which looked pretty dirty, about 3 miles before the code came back on. I’m replacing the air filter right now because that is also pretty dirty. It could also be a vacuum leak or O2 senors, intake manifold gasket or a couple other things. I attached is a screenshot of the reading from the scanner from when the code was triggered. Can anyone narrow what may be the problem by looking at the readings? It’ll save me a bunch of money and time if anyone can use readings to give suggestion on what to change next to fix issue and get rid of code. I Need to go for inspection so I’m trying to sort this out quick. Thanks
So you had no check engine light, then you played with the MAF and shortly after your light came on?
I tend to think you broke the MAF. Do you have a tool to read the outpu?
The check engine light was on with the P0171 code I mention. I cleared the code because I was tired of looking at it. After clearing code I cleaned the MAF sensor. I used cleaner meant for it and did not touch it, just sprayed cleaner on it like instructions said. It came on again just after that. I cleared again after changing air filter this morning. Have about 50 miles on it since last clearing it and changing filter. Hadn’t came back on yet. Not sure how long it take to run a cycle, but I’ll be hooking up scanner again tomorrow to see if it ran full cycle and the problem was filter and MAF. Looking to see what it could be if cleaning the MAF and changing filter does not fix it
