It's the 3.73 ratio that is the "problem" only Ford used the 4.10 up carrier with a slim 3.73 ring gear. I now have a truetrac that I ordered without this information here in the UK as it's not worth the cost of shipping it back to a US seller that I bought it from over a year ago. Just trying to help.
I initially ordered the Eaton Truetrac for 3.73 ratio, it has sat under my bench for a year, I finally got around to pulling the diff to fit it a week ago to find the difference. If you look on the Just Differentials website, it lists the correct information Search site: 0Home > Shop by Brand > Eaton Corporation >Dana 80, 4.10 & Up, 35 Spline, Eaton Truetrac Limited-Slip Differential Larger Photo Email A Friend

Wondering what your application is, year, SRW or DRW, differential tag information. I believe you have a 3.73, I have a 3.73 as well. 2000 Ford F-350 Dually 7.3 Diesel
My tag info is 3.73 F81A ARH

Pretty confusing on which unit to order, I hope the 915A567 is the right one, real pain in rear end if not after opening up my present diff to look.
I don't have the tag information to hand but my truck is a 2000 (built late '99) dually F350 7.3 it is also a Canadian spec truck if that makes any difference, I should have taken some pics of things when they were apart. I'm surprised that no one else has jumped on this thread to share their knowledge, I can't be the only person who has found this out the hard way.
Interesting my truck like yours is a Canadian truck, it is also a dually and was built in 9/99.
We know that you got the wrong unit maybe I’ll be lucky and get the right one.
you mentioned that you didn’t return yours because of the expensive freight, just how much was the freight.
Jim
It was going to be around £275.00 sterling ($350 US) to ship it back, I have a guy who ships stuff in a container from Florida so getting stuff here isn't too bad as long as I plan ahead but sending anything back is a nightmare. I've also had to pay import duty & taxes on the unit which would be difficult to reclaim so I'm hoping that I can find someone here who will want it. Dodge axles with the 3.73 ratio use this carrier & there's plenty of them here.
Thanks for the info, those freight charges are killer
Did you ever figure out which unit you actually need, because that’s probably the one I need, sounds like our trucks came down the assembly line together
I’m glad to hear that you started a thread on this, the people that sell these products should be well versed and be able to help somewhat, these aren’t cheap items they’re dealing with
Yeah, I ordered based on the seller listing 2 carrier types, the one for 3.73 & down, the other for 4.10 & up, it seemed so simple. I was really hoping to get this installed before we get bad weather as we go away with the trailer for Christmas holidays & I don't want to be having to get towed off a campsite again! I think that the correct one will be here end of November, I could have got it sooner but airfreight is a killer.
I put a stop return on the Trutrac I orderd due to the fact it won’t fit. As it turns out Justdifferentials is two hundred miles south of where I live and I’m going to be down that way on Friday.
I talked to Dustin this morning and we all agreed that I need the 915A450 Trutrac unit for the thinner ring gear, all bought and paid for just have to pick it up.
Thanks again Shovelhead hope you get your situation sorted out
