I have a 2000 F350 Dually with a 7.3 diesel. I am 2 wheel drive and would like to install a limited slip or a locker of some type, find I slip in slippery boat launches and could use some more drive.
I took a picture of my axle tag, which I believe is a Dana 80, having a problem trying to upload pictures.

Any info or ideas would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

The Eaton Trutrac would be a great differential for you. Its a torsen style, gear driven limited slip with no clutches to wear out. I ripped-out the oem rear limited slip on my 2006 F250 3 years ago and replaced it with a Trutrac. Worked great. Normally you dont notice it, but as soon as one tire begins to move more than the other the limited slip engages - and it engages tightly. For your application, where you periodically need increased traction, it should work great. The other beauty of it is that its always engaged and ready to go, where as a selectable locker is an open diff until you engage it, then it locks. For daily driving I wish my 2016 F350 SRW had a rear Trutrac rather than the oem elocker. It would provide more benefit more often.
I would go with a selectable locker like an ARB or something similar. Them you can lock the rear end up when you need it and have it open the rest of the time.
I went went with a Truetrac Posi in truck in my signature, I also regeared to 4:10’s when I installed it. It works flawlessly regardless of speed, towing or road conditions. The Truetrac engages and disengages as needed. It’s a better option than a selectable locker especially in your application. If you go this route let me know, I found a seller that has a killer price.
I really like the trutrac in my Crown Vic. It works as advertised...never know it's there, but I can tromp it with one tire on wet grass and the other on dry concrete. Both tires leave spin marks.
I like a selectable locker on a tractor but I'm a little shy about them on a road vehicle. I wonder about any external parts failing...especially if they might leave the locker engaged. Also a little nervous about loaning a vehicle with a selectable locker to someone who doesn't know when to keep it disengaged. Hope the designers would have the details worked out but I'm still nervous about them. Trutrac will work as long as you own the truck and it's safely on the job at any speed.
Definitely pass on Ford traction lok...either too tight or worn out.
Make sure that you order the correct carrier, Ford in their infinite wisdom use a slim 3.73 ring gear which uses a 4.10 carrier from '99. Not all suppliers will show this, saying either 3.73 & down or 4.10 & up. I now have a 3.73 & down Truetrac that I ordered incorrectly!

Hi, I am ready to upgrade my axle and would love a good price on a Truetrac. Please PM me the scoop on a good price.
The part number I’m looking at for my 2000 F350 Dually is 915A567. I pulled an axle today to confirm that it is 35 spline, 1 1/2 inch shaft, 3.73 ratio
Also Colorado what is the killer price and confirm it’s the right unit
Thanks for any info

His Truetrac only fits 4.10. Unfortunately, he just raised the price but if you decide to regear I would see if he would honor his original price. For reference I paid $250 + $10, then he raised it to $350 which is still a killer price. The $500 isn’t bad but $350 is better.
Hell, here’s the link: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?m...2F300964506398

Thanks, I think I’ll stick with the 3.73. I like the ratio besides I won’t have to pull the pinion for the install
You did read the bit I wrote about Ford 3.73 gear sets using the 4.10 carrier didn't you? Most suppliers don't seem to list that information, Just Differentials were the first one's I saw this on.
