TPMS Faults

On my 2010 I'm getting TPMS Monitor Fault and TPMS Sensor Fault codes - two different error messages. They occur periodically and randomly. Sometimes I'll go weeks without seeing them. Other times I'll get it 4 times in one drive. The batteries in the sensors are 8 years old now and I could have the tires dismounted and sensors replaced, but I'm concerned since I am also getting the monitor error, meaning maybe there's some other TPMS system problem and replacing the wheel sensors won't fix it. Anyone have any insight into the difference between these messages? If there is one? Any way to see if there's a problem beyond losing contact with the wheel sensors because of 8 year old batteries? Of course there are no ODB2 codes for any of this. I'm not looking on spending a bunch of money on this but it is a definite annoyance given how obnoxious the TMPS error sequence is (dinging several times and taking over the message center every time it randomly triggers).

Alternatively is there any way to disable the TPMS so I don't get the error codes? I have Forscan but unfortunately there's very little information on model years earlier than 2011.

One code could be telling you the battery is low and the other could be due to a loss of communication with a sensor due to that low battery. Any tire shop would have the handheld tool to scan each sensor to see it's battery level. The issue might be with just one or all. If it's all I recommend you replace them at your next tire replacement so as to avoid the $100-200 cost of dismounting, mounting, and balancing of the tires. Just shop around and get the sensors yourself ahead of time if you're looking to save a few extra bucks.
