Currently looking for a f250 crew and have found one that has pretty much everything i want except for the back & passenger windows being tinted. Most after market tint jobs I've seen don't seem to last , whats your experience and thoughts .
Mine came with the rear window and rear seat windows tinted, and I had the front seat windows tinted on my own. Mine came with a lifetime warranty. Most professional tint jobs should last as long as the truck.
Aftermarket is a lot better than factory 3M does a lifetime warranty on window tint and if you move locations any 3M dealer can honor it. I juts picked up my 19 from getting the fronts tinted to match the rear.
Been getting my windows tinted for years across multiple vehicles. Use a reputable dealer that stands behind their product and uses a good product (Lumar for example) and you will be fine. Also.....the rear windows in most vehicles that have 'privacy glass' are not tinted with film. They are basically dipped in a product that 'colors or dye's' them. Although dark, they offer no UV or Heat shielding protection. You get them all tinted with a dyed film or a ceramic coated film, and you will get UV and Heat resistance protection.
Depends on what material is used, and who did it. I've used the same tint shop for the past 15 years and get a quality tint material (Lumar), I've yet to have any tint issues. I've tinted every vehicle I've owned in that time. On my newer trucks, they've come with rear tint, so I've only tinted the front windows. Trucks seem to be pretty easy to do. cars with curved rear windows with defrosters (Corvette, etc) are tricky, but a good shop can do it with no problem.
I have been having my windows tinted since 1993, and all my tint has outlasted the vehicle. I've used the ceramic on the last 3 vehicles and I really like it.
I have had after market tinting on five vehicles Ford x2 (Gonna be x3 soon) , Pontiac, Dodge and Cadillac, all from different vendors, installed in different states and all have lasted the life I had with each vehicle as well as some of the lives after me (I sold them to friends or family).
The only thing they have in common is a quality film and a reputable installer. More than likely anyone who spends $40-80K on a truck is not going to have crappy tint installed to save a few bucks, additionally if it is bad a good installer can remove and replace may cost more but you get what you pay for.
If the truck is what you want at the price you want to pay pull the trigger; Tint is "cheep" and can be changed...
I have tinted every car I've owned at 5% since I was 16 years old. As long as you use quality tint (3M, Lumar, etc.) your tint will never purple, bubble, or get the shower curtain effect, for as long as you own the vehicle. The only time I've seen that happen is when people get Walmart or flea market tint jobs done.

Yeah. I tinted my sunroof hoping it would help with heat rejection.
Most good tint shops will do a better job than factory, my last few vehicles I’ve had my shop remove factory tint and reapply. In these new SDs tinting the sunroof is a must. Lots of heat in the Texas summers without it.
Try the new ceramic tint also, makes a huge difference down here.
I wish my SD came without tinted windows! That way it would be easy to have the front tint match the rear. My fronts look the same as the rears from outside, but I can tell a small difference from the inside.
The days of bubbled purple tint tint are long gone, unless someone is doing the tint job themselves with stuff they got at Walmart.
I’ve had 3M or Lumar in my last 5 vehicles over the past 15 years. Had the wife’s Accord done in 2005 and it still looked great 10 years and 215k miles later.
I would recommend spending a little more on the ceramic stuff. Wife’s new Accord has a lighter tint job than my 150 had (60% vs 20%) but hers had ceramic where as mine had standard tint. Hers stayed noticeably cooler. I did ceramic in the SD. I’m thinking about doing the sunroof too. I can feel the heat coming through the shade while driving in the summer. I think ceramic tint on that would probably help a lot.

Find a tint shop that offers a lifetime warranty on the specific tint you`re interested in but remember, good quality tint is not cheap. My brand preference is Huper Optik and I paid $750.00 to do all of the windows. I also did the entire front window with the same brand but, we`re not going to talk about that since it`s illegal. LOL
I hope this info helps you out.

Interesting info.
I had no idea that the tint that comes on our F150`s and SD`s could be removed.
I learned something new today.
