My truck - a 1969 F-100 - came with a conversion to power steering. As the original gearbox was junk, I replaced it with a nice Redhead unit. Bottom line, it appears as though there is not enough room for this unit and so it is deflected about - I would say - 1" (Pic 1).
Result: My steering column isn't parallel and "leans" a bit towards the door (Pic 2).
I want to emphasize that my truck power-steers like a dream and it is only the OCD inside me that this bugs.
What do you think is involved in truing up my steering column? Thanks in advance.
