Odometer acting erratic
Hey all. My 1999 F150, 5.4 N/A has had the infamous on/off odometer problem for years now, but just this morning, I got in and started my truck to go to work and my odometer absolutely freaked out. It was flashing all sorts of random, nonsense symbols along with random numbers, and it did it all the way to work, before it just went blank. It really made me nervous, considering the age and miles of this truck. My mind immediately went to PCM, probably a much smaller deal than that. Any ideas?

Well then, I guess you can drop $1,200 on a new cluster and programming or you can fix the cold solder joints and see if it fixes the issue for free...your choice!

More specifically, both issues concern supplying power to the odometer digits.
