I have the SES light on my truck and I have no idea what started it. My wife was driving the truck when it came on and I wasn't there. The truck seems to be running smooth, so no symptoms to diagnose. I want to get it tested, but not sure if I want to deal with a shop or just buy my own tester.
I searched and it looks like there hasn't been a thread in a while on SES code readers for the 7.3L PSD. I see that there is the AutoEnginuity option from RIffRaff, but I am not sure if I am supposed to buy the basic kit and the Ford expansion. If so, that setup is near $1000! Maybe I am not interpreting the site correctly. What other options are available that you all are using?
Lastly, if someone is in the Roseville/Sacramento area who has a quality tester, send me a PM and maybe we can meet for a quick check. I would reimburse you for your help/time.

Cory, welcome to FTE.
You're not looking in the right place. Scanners are referenced quite frequently, and the various "mentions" are peppered throughout a large spectrum of different threads.
Try using the search term "forscan" and "Torque Pro" as your search parameters.
I'm not in the Sac area, sorry. But if you're planning a trip down to the Central Coast to visit the Monterey area, lemme know.

The Auto Repair lobbyists were effective in getting a law through prohibiting parts stores from offering that free service several years ago. And most basic OBD II scanners usually cannot read PSD codes.

That would be funny if it wasn't so disgustingly ignorant (the law, not your comment).
I know some people buy cheap OBDII plugs and download apps on their phones and diagnose that way. I have a super chips programmer that came with my truck so I would have used that ever I'd my truck threw any codes before I now have the Aeroforce gauge. The Aeroforce is $250 or $200 each if you buy 2 at a time. It runs a lot and will read just about any codes. Used mine this weekend on my dad's truck to read the transmission codes.

OP ....go on amazon, you can buy one for $ 12
You know, I probably shouldn't state it like it's fact, since I haven't read the info from a reliable source. This was something I read on the forums that was backed up by all the local parts stores in my area that stopped offering the service, with the clerks verbally backed up what I read. But like I said, I cannot point to a verifiable source, now that you post this.

Edit: After doing a really quick, superficial search all I can find is people talking about it on various forums on the 'net, but no hard facts to back up what has been referenced as "law" like previously stated.

Thanks for offering, I actually commute through Lincoln on my way home. I am going to look into the option quoted below, but if it doesn't pan out I will reach out. I appreciate it.

This sounds intriguing, I am going to look more into this option. Thank you!

What they do to circumvent that law is to lend you the scanner to pull your own codes. I don't know if their scanner can do our trucks, but probably not.
