Front splash guards

Do the front splash guards offer any real advantages if your truck has running boards?

Yes, but they need to be a bit longer. I put Bayfront set on from an F-450 and they protect everytheverything on my F350 SRW. I do have a set of gatorbacks sitting on the workbench that look like they'll cover as well too.

In my old truck I got them on the front because of the buildup of snow/ slush on the step bars would freeze and make them slick. Plan to do the same with this truck since the they are down a little further and will collect more. Want to get them on before winter, but will probably go with front only.

They cut down significantly on stuff slinging up onto the painted part of the lower panels as well as keeping the step bars much cleaner.

I have the retractable running boards, after the hurricane I had to drive on some nasty roads. I was surprised how far up into the inner body area and how far reward debris was. I installed Gatorbacks, which hang low enough to serve their purpose.
