I just laid my hands on a 1993 F250 and I have an odd braking issue. The brakes are incredibly sensitive and the rear brakes will lock up at he drop of a hat.
Today I had a panic stop and the rear wheels locked up, but only for about a second. Then they were normal, I think. The point being, they did not STAY locked up.
What can this be? Something with the ABS? I'm lost.
No codes or lights? Sounds as if the RABS module might not be functioning properly. It is located on the frame about where the drivers feet go. Also for consideration, If you just got the truck there is no telling how old or moisture saturated the brake fluid is which can cause corrosion inside the system. I would get a couple quarts of brake fluid and flush all the old out by doing a regular old brake bleed and see if it clears things up. Just keep bleeding brakes until nothing but clear fluid comes out. do it passenger side rear, driver side rear, rabs unit, passenger side front, driver side front.
When i bought my 93 I had to do that as the brake fluid was orange...
RABS unit bleeder valve size requires 8 mm wrench if memory serves me.
Once a flush is done, then i would put it on jack stands and pull the drums and inspect them and the shoes and take a look at the wheel cylinders for any type of leakage, etc., When I did the brake job on mine I just changed out the wheel cylinders, 25 yrs is 25 yrs on them and they are dirt cheap.
Look at your rear shoes to make sure they are installed correctly. Make sure the leading shoe is to the front. I've read that mixing the shoes up will cause a similar issue.
