Start No Start

94,E150, Club Wagon E4OD

After running fine today, out of nowhere she decides to not want to start. Cranks, Turns over,

and no start (battery is new). After about 5 tries then were good. Drive home about 12 miles, runs fine

gauges all look good,

When I got home I shut her down then tried to start and no start. Let it sit for 20 minutes and bam, starts

right up drove around and starts fine. Ran both code tests with engine off and on but got no codes

The only thing I noticed is when I opened the hood, it was unusually hot, it is a hot day but this summer I

have drove it in much hotter temps and it has started fine. I guess its just another one of those head

scratchers

You may want to take a look here. Pretty good write up on troubleshooting Ford no-start conditions. Fix

Thanks for reminding me, I love that site. It only did it a couple times one day but since then, it feels like it is idleing a bit rough, more than usual .
I got an oil change and tossed in a bottle of techron today.
I am going to check the timeing when I get the time, pun intended.

I assume that's a 5.8?

Check the coil wire. They are bad about burning through and failing at high temps.

In fact, if you haven't replaced the distributor, rotor and wires, I would suggest that. Those components don't like the higher heat in the van's engine compartment.

Do you mean the Cap? I have replaced the rotor, cap an wires not to long ago.
I had the wires replaced about a year ago. I will give a look at anyway when I have the cover off.

I have been thinking about just replacing the whole distributor, being its the original with 230,000 miles on it.
