Question Tire pressure warning

Low tire pressure warning came on. I have a 2015 Ford F250 I bought 2 months ago.I have 52 plus PSI in the tires. The spare is hard but I am not able to check pressure on it without taking it down. Should the warning be on at 52 PSI?

Check the door sticker to see where tires should be at. On mine it's 60psi front and 65psi rear. The spare does not contain a sensor so it would have to be one of the 4 mounted tires. Not sure at what PSI the system sends an alert but, your definitely below recommended PSI. Might check the rear tires first.....

agreed...

my truck front is 65..... and rear is 80...
so low light comes on front about 55.. and rear about 70.....
so when I rotate tires.. I must reprogram unit...
no sensor in spare..

I had a warning for like two months....started at the end of December. I had plenty of air. Man it was annoying but I stood my ground and it finally gave in and quit.

Tire pressure warning

Come to find out my tires are Goodyear C rated and not E rated. 50 psi is max on these tires. I bought the truck used and they may have switched out the tires before they traded it in. What I get for buying used. :-)
Is there anyway to lower the setting on tire pressure warning?

if you are going to "WORK" the truck.. upgrade the tires...

No, you can not change the value of the tire pressure warning system...

I got my truck "USED" and it had replacement "E" tires... as I got a work fleet/lease truck...

Actually you can change the setting but it requires a laptop, FORSCAN, and a plugin to the OBDII port.

Click here for more info -> FORSCAN Thread provided it will work on a 2015.

Yeah I'd upgrade the tires however but even with "E" 60/80 psi is too much. I run 50/70 and hope to lower that once I get the forscan set up.

Thanks for the information. I will keep at 50 psi. I do not haul or pull really heavy loads great distances. I will upgrade to E rated tire in the near future.

Tire pressure warning

Well, I fixed my problem. I bought me a new set of Cooper E rated tires :-) Problem solved :-) Sold old tires to a used tire dealer.

I went into Forscan on my 18 F250 and turned the tire pressure monitoring system off. I mostly haul sailboat fuel so I like to keep the tires aired down to help with the ride.

Thanks sounds like a plan

I continued on my way a couple hundred miles and did a walk around a few times.... another false alarm it seems.
I just got back but haven't actually put a gauge on any of them yet.
the thing is I run plenty of air pressure it's not like I'm running right at the edge. So....idk.

Tire pressure warning

Tire pressure low warning came on. Had tire place check tire pressure and set to 60 front and 70 back on my E rated tires. What is the reset procedure?

Once the TPMS warning light illuminates, you may need to set cold tire pressures at/above factory recommendations to turn off the light, and you may also have to drive a short distance to activate the sensors. Once the light is off, then you can drop the tire pressures a bit.

The actual trigger value appears to vary by truck model, tire size, and configuration. Our truck’s factory pressure specs are 55F/80R, but, for driving around lightly loaded, I have the tires set at 50F/65R cold with no apparent TPMS issues.

HTH,
Jim / crewzer
