Neutral Safety Switch question

I'm unsure if there's a neutral safety switch on my '66 Econoline SuperVan. It wouldn't surprise me if the previous owner removed, and bypassed the switch, however my inexperience may be the issue. Here's the question: Does a manual, 3-speed on the column, even require a neutral safety switch, or is it just for a vehicle with automatic transmission?

NSS (Neutral Safety Switch) used with automatic transmissions only.
