Transmission grinding in Neutral

Hi all, I have a 91 F250 w/ a 5spd man. transmission.
With the tranny in neutral and the clutch is disengaged there is a light grinding noise, as if the slave cylinder is rubbing slightly on the clutch spring plate. if I engage the clutch just a little bit the sound goes away.
I have replaced the clutch and the slave cylinder, no help. I even did a top end rebuild on the transmission, new forks etc.
Is this possibly a low clutch phenomenon?
any advice or shared experience from this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
