My lowly xl didn't come with the fancy locking bed cleats that fit in the boxlink hardware. I thought ford wanted too much $$ for the cleats for what they are and did. I went to lowe & home depot and spent the same $$ on other more useful options. I got 2 of each of: 2" racheting straps, and two kinds of tie down anchors.
Awesome!.... do those etrack tie down clips work properly in there? I have a ton of them...I'll definitely buy those base pieces if they do. Is the fit as secure as when using the proper echannel?

The boxlink hardware is cut a little bigger than a etrack. The clips fit snuggly up and down, but left and right there is some play. If you look at the pics you can see the gaps i am talking about. they do work. I am using them to lash stuff down so it doesn't slide all over the place in the bed, so it is not a high weight load on them.
I was more concerned if there was any up down movement. It never even occurred to me to try my etrack tie downs on these plates...I was planning on buying some single etrack base pieces and mounting them in various places, and this saves me a lot of work. Thanks for posting about it...hopefully others will also find it useful...but for me personally, I'm very happy you did it :-)
Although my truck had the factory tie down brackets with it, this is some handy information as I have all kinds of E track stuff in my motorcycle trailer.
I used 2x4 e-track hangers to mount an 80/20 extrusion for a bike rack. As mentioned, there is a little play, but with the weight of the bikes it doesn't move very much.
The standard e track brackets are very loose in the stock ford box link. I am looking for a bracket to hold a 2x4 that fits the ford box link better. Is there anything out there ?
