52 F1 trans

Hi all, I’ve got a question. My 52 F1 has a heavy duty floor shifted 3 spd non synchro. Wondering if there is a floor shift synchro trans I could swap that would be a direct swap? Don’t like the double clutching at all. Any advice?

If it's truly a heavy duty three speed, then I believe it should be synchronized. (At least between 2-3 gear). It might be in need of a rebuild.

Yes, the 3-sp's were all synchro'd on 2 & 3. Clutch may need adjusting or a rebuild as suggested.

Nothing else is a direct bolt-up and would require frame modifications to clear.

Yep,2nd and 3rd is. 1st and 2nd not. Something I’m trying to get used to. My dad drove his 50 F-1 V8,same trans for many years without a whimper from it. Smooth as hot butter gears changes.

I have the same transmission in my 52 f1. I only use 1st from a complete stop and never downshift or attempt to downshift into 1st.
2nd and 3rd shift up and down perfectly so if yours is not then it may need looked at like the other mentioned. Shifting from 1st to 2nd should be smooth as well unless the clutch/synchros are worn.

My transmission is in excellent mechanical condition and clutch is new. It’s my own metaphysical coordination that needs adjustment. It’s easy to get into a new car fire it up,drop in drive and go. This is the first all mechanical vehicle I’ve had in probably 20 years(71 Duster S/G race car,540 inch Hemi crashbox 4 spd 513 Dana, 9.40s at 150) Probably shouldn’t have posted.

Pic: Borg-Warner T-87 H/D 3 speed with floor shift.

7124 is the 2nd/3rd gear synchro assy. 7107 are the two brass blocker rings that are probably worn, causing the trans to grind between these two gears.
