Odd. I had someone operate the high beams on mine while I stood in front of the truck. Only a pair appeared to switch to high beam. Maybe I misjudged what I saw. Can't test again since I upgraded my XLT to LED a couple days ago!

XLTs and Lariats also have the quad halogens as standard and factory fogs are certainly available in those trims (standard with Lariat). If you have an XLT or Lariat with halogens, you get 6 white lights forward when running low beams and fogs.

Actually, quad-beam halogen lights are standard equipment on a King Ranch, too. Only Platinum and Limited get LED headlights as standard equipment. Kind of silly since a Chevy regular cab work truck with two wheel drive and a V6 comes standard with xenon headlamps and LED day running lights.

I kind-of like incandescent bulbs, especially in the rear as they tend to keep snow and ice melted in snow country...I suppose the xenon headlights do as well, but I can live without them considering the cost, especially if auxiliary lighting is not xenon, then the contrasting yellowish hue is very dismal...

I’ve had the factory LED lights on another 2017 I owned for a year. They did not freeze over while driving in snow. I live in NH and we get a lot of snow and ice. LED lights generate a fair amount of heat but at the heat sink at the back. Ford channels that heat back to the front.

I did not know that, thanks, troverman, my only LEDs were on my 2008 Mountaineer (taillights) and they did not generate heat (and the chrome grille bars helped to hold snow as well making for double trouble).

Thanks for the correction, forgot about KRs. And at least with the new Ram 1500, LEDs are available as low as the Big Horn (equiv to Ford's XLT). Ram came up with two different LED headlight sets... large single low-beam and small high beam optional on Big Horn, standard on Laramie, and quad low-beam LEDs (with the outer lights that can pivot up to 15° for curves and turns) on the Longhorn and Limited. More sources are noting the new Ram HD will be a "heavy refresh" of the current truck and not using the new cab of the 1500, so the headlight packages will be completely different.

I am not trying to start a brand war here, and the Big Three brands have the same problem of the same 'by design' rusting of mostly the fender arches on the cargo box, but Rams seem to get there much more quickly. Have they gotten ahead of that problem yet? My F350 took maybe eleven years to see small spots of rust-through on the cargo box fender arches, I was pretty impressed that it took so long...again, not trying to bad-mouth a brand, and I know that changing methods, materials takes a few years, but I have been watching Dodges/Rams do this for seventeen+/- years...

It was just a comparison of how everyone is marketing their upmarket headlights. As for rust... every truck of every brand will rust if exposed to the right conditions. I've seen Fords, Chevys, and Dodges all get the flaky brown sheetmetal and frame components. My F150s back in the 90s had wonderfully rusty spare tire carriers thanks to NJ road salt.

The problem with all 4 low beam lights lit at the same time is that approaching drivers think I have my high beams on. I am “flashed” often when driving at night.

Ford being aluminum shouldn’t rust out. I think that is a big selling point. Just need to watch the frame.

I guess I’ll be the one to say it. Even though we have four working lights whether on hi or lo beam...they suck!! If you have the fogs (I do) they still suck.

I assume the super duty factory LED’s are great. The F150 I traded had factory HID’s which were excellent. I did go from HID back to halogen so my opinion could be skewed.

As embarrassing as it might be on this forum, no headlights I've ever driven beat the wife's Subaru Forester's. They are awesome.
