I drove an F150 the other day that had a sunroof in it and I started wondering if it might be possible to install one in my 2001 F250 Super Cab. I know sunroofs were available in this body style and wanted to know if anyone has done a swap using a factory roof or aftermarket. Obviously I want one that will not leak but also looks good.
Agreed. This can be one of the dealer installed options. My '97 F-150 came with a sunroof that was subcontracted by the dealer (through ASC IIRC).
You can look around and find a model you like for install. You can also go to your local Ford dealership and find out who they outsource their sunroof installs to.
As for the OEM Superduty sunroof, that started in late '03 when the 6.0L diesel debuted.
Thanks for the information. I'm going to start looking for one being parted and see how exactly it is installed. I imagine the hardest part would be cutting the roof. And the thought of cutting my roof concerns me. I'm not sure if it would be worth the trouble or not.

That's why I leave that to people with more skill and experience than me.
Just to clarify a sunroof is a solid panel that retracts. A moonroof is a glass panel that retracts.

I have had 3 moonroofs. I had a Mazda car and a Ford truck with a moonroof. I used them frequently and had problems with them as the years went on (plugged drain lines, binding, and weak motors that wouldn't hold them fully shut/sealed). My wife has used her Jeep moonroof probably 3 times in the last 5 years and we haven't had a problem with it.
Don't get me wrong, sunroofs/moonroofs are awesome and my wife loves having it (even if all she does is slide the panel back so the sun shines through the glass). In SoCal I easily have 340 days of roof open weather but I won't have another one after the issues I had.
The above issues are my main concern. We received a Chevy HHR from my father in law for my daughter and I dealt with clogged drain lines several times which involved removing the passenger seat and running a dehumidifier for several days. That being said when the weather is beautiful and the top is open it sure is nice.
