VACUUM WIPER MOTOR QUESTION

VACUUM WIPER MOTOR QUESTION
I have a 50 Ford F1 with a single vacuum wiper. I don't know if a second wiper wss an option or not, but I have a question about the single wiper motor. It has 2 brass tubes in the top cap, the larger one is attached to a vacuum line going to the engine and this powers the wiper motor. The smaller tube was open-ended with no cap. What is the purpose of this tube? Did it provide vacuum to a second wiper motor, if installed? Should it be capped? The wiper motor appears to have a filtered air inlet at the bottom of the blade well to provide air to the side opposite the vacuum. Does this tube serve any useful purpose? Does it have any effect at all on single wiper operation, if left uncapped? Thanks!
