05 Expedition Transmission problem

I have 2005 Expedition with a 5.4 and it has approx 175,000 miles. I bought it new and haven’t had any transmission problems until now. At about 10-15 mph the trans goes into what feels like neutral. When I press the od button, I can continue to drive but only at about 40 mph. I have heard that the od band may be broken. I have also read some threads saying to pull the pan and some clip may have broken and are lodged in some valves. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Might be the valve body, or even the check ***** in the valve body. They used rubber check ***** in the transmission which wears out over time. The only way to find out is to drop the pan and the valvebody. If the problem is not the valvebody, then it's likely a more severe problem which means you probably need a reman transmission.
