Sway Control on our Trucks

Just a quick question...since Ford notes that the truck has Sway Control, is this just an added control measure while accompanying sway bars when towing or you don't need sway bars because of it???

I know the claim is there, but one thing I'd like to know, is how do you control sway by manipulating the throttle and brakes. That said, I "DO" know that a sway bar makes a world of difference. Or are you talking about the sway bar on a WDH?

Newer trucks won't have a rear sway bar. You would need an aftermarket one like Helwig makes.

Here is a video that Ford produced to explain the sway control. https://owner.ford.com/how-tos/vehic...y-control.html

I think we are all talking about a few different things. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. There's really FOUR different systems at work here.
1) sway bars on truck are a mechanical system to reduce rolling in corners when loaded - (See Helwig bars)
2) Sway control (ESC) or RSC) on truck is an electron system that uses sensors, and the trucks ABS system to prevent dangerous sway/roll in emergency situations. Under normal driving conditions this does not engage.
3) Sway control HITCHES reduce trailer sway when towing with a mechanical system
4) Fords's trailer sway control is an extension of the electronics truck sway control that uses sensors and the trucks ABS in concert with the trailer brakes to prevent dangerous sway in emergency situations. Under normal towing situations this is not engaged.

Great conversation, thank you, I have a better idea now about the systems and how it works🙄
