Need help with tailight/ turn/ reverse harness problem!
In the process of pulling the wiring for the tail-light assembly through the cutouts in the bed, I may have crossed a wire somehow or pulled a ground or etcetera (I have no clue, everything looked fine).
So I realized I had no rear running lights or brake-lights and no rear turn signal, but that I did have reverse lights. Although the bottom two brake-lights don't work, however, the high stop lamp and the cargo lights both work.
And it gets better! As I was pressing my brake pedal while testing these lights, if my headlights were not switched on, the pedal was engaging my front runnings lights (both of them lighting up at once, almost like hazards) and my inside gauge cluster lights. However, this would stop once I turned either the running lights on or the headlights on.
So, I immediately checked all and any fuses having to do anything with tail-lights and turn signals and etcetera, and my problem persisted.
Like I had said, I inspected all the wiring harnesses in view and have kept doing so as I've been working on sanding my frame, hoping I can see something or anything.
This led me to taking the split harness (the one that tucks behind the rear bumper basically) for the tail-light assembly off today, in hopes that it was faulty and that I could get a brand new one online which I'm having tough luck finding anywhere. Even went through the trouble of going through the messy Motorcraft parts number catalog and searched dozens of possible harnesses and still couldn't find it.
So, I don't know if anyone's had something similar happen and has suggestions or if someone knows more about wiring and can help me? Everything I've listed is what I know but please ask questions, just wanna get this figured out as I kind of need brake lights to drive... Oh, and I would have a shop do it but none of the three I went to want to do it so...
