05 F150 Low Pressure PS hoses seized in gear box
Hi guys, been a while since I logged in here. Wondering if you could offer any tips on removing seized low pressure power steering hoses from the gear box. I have 05 F150 with the 5.4L. The lower hose from gear box to cooler rusted through and developed leak. Bought new hoses but am having a really difficult time removing the original ones from gear box. They are press fit with o-ring held in place by a metal plate attached to the upper hose. Plate is held on gear box with one 10mm bolt. Bolt came off easily enough but I can't get the plate or two hoses to budge. Have them soaking with Rust Blaster overnight and will try again in am. Any tips for this? Seems to be a common problem. Thank you!

Finally got the fitting out. I soaked it for about four days didn't seem to help. Would up using a large screwdriver and hammer to get the plate off. Hose fitting seemed worse than the plate couldn't get it to budge no matter what I tried. I sheared off the hose from end of fitting and modified a bearing puller by grinding lip off and cutting some serrations with a file. Just kept sliding out no matter how much I tightened it up inside fitting. Would up using a micro torch and vise grips as last resort. I just heated the fitting tried to avoid heating the housing as best I could. After a while was finally able to work it loose. New hose went back together no problem. I really don't think this would have been so difficult if there was more room to access fitting. What a PITA!
