Angry Won't start.

The truck in question is a 1992 F 150, 5.0 automatic. I got caught in a really sever thunderstorm a couple days ago. I pulled into a convenience store parking lot to get off the road. The truck started running super rough, then shut off. Since then it won't restart. I assumed wet ignition system and sprayed the coil, inside the distribuer and spark plug connections with P B Blaster. It still won't start. It will turn over in the normal natter for about two seconds then sounds like the battery is drained. I imediately put a voltage meter on the battery and it showes almost 13 volts. Any help or advise will be appreciated, I'd like to get it home before the hurricane hits.

Thanks

You need fuel, air, and fire... sounds like you don't have fuel or air... sure you have gas in the tank? If you have gas, then I would verify you have spark, Harbor Freight has cheap (but effective) spark testers that come in handy for situations like this.

Do you hear the selected fuel pump run for one second when you turn the key to run?
If you do then check for spark.
If no spark unplug the PCM and see if spark returns.
If the spark returns then change out the PCM.

Starter binding up from being drowned perhaps?

I'm getting about two seconds on my test light at the initiater(?). I no longer have enough hearing capability to hear a fuel pump at that distance. Where and what is the PCM? I'm not familier with all the new electrical thingys.

PCM is the Computer. Personally I would get some Electrical contact cleaner and spray where ever you put the PB Blaster and then clean it good. That stuff is for rusted bolts etc and not for electrical thingies ESPECIALLY inside the distributor. Sandy

I think he means the starter relay mounted on the fender.

Little black electronical thingy inside the passenger kick panel with 3 wires. Green//, gray and orange// and yellow red. I think it has something to do with the fuel pump but I'm not sure.

I thought of that. Commencer. Is a good one. I would buy that definition. However, it looks like we were both wrong.and it's that other thingy he was talking about.

Guys, I appreciate you trying to help. I do have fuel to the pressure valve behind the distributer that looks like a tire valve, I have fire to the spark plugs. I tried starting fluid, no difference. Confused.

Try the cleaning of that PB Blaster in the distributor and plug wires. Clean the rotor contacts with the rag you use and dry off the inside of the cap. You can spray all the electrical contact cleaner you want and it will dry almost immediately, so no worries there. Use a rag where you can. If this doesn't work we can get you to run a diagnostic test even if it doesn't run and that might tell us what it is. Sandy
